Say “Thanks” This College Admissions Season

A Few Things to Be Thankful For This College Admissions Season With the Thanksgiving holiday this week, students will be getting a much-needed break from the rigors of school and the college admissions process. It’s also a time to reflect on what you’re thankful for this year. The college admissions process is an individual journey, but you didn’t get here by yourself. Along the way you’ve received help from parents, teachers, counselors, tutors, friends, and other mentors. With regular admission deadlines a little over a month away, and early application decisions just a couple of weeks away, this week is the calm before the heightened admissions frenzy. Now is the time to say â€Å"thanks† to those who have helped you along the way, and reflect on the great things that have happened to you this admissions season. This Thanksgiving, be sure to give thanks for: Your parents, who have managed to stay sane and supportive during this stressful time. Your teachers, who have offered help when you needed it, written great recommendation letters, and have been guiding lights for your interests. Your counselors, who have worked hard to make sure your authentic voice shines through in your applications, and that you’re presenting everything in the best light. Your tutors, who tirelessly worked to help you reach your goal score on the SAT, ACT, and Subject Tests. Admissions officers, who have answered your numerous emails about application essays, required materials, and any other college application bumps you’ve hit along the road. Your friends, who have been shoulders to lean on when you feel overwhelmed with college applications, standardized tests, and just school in general. Your interests and extracurricular activities, that offer an outlet for your frustrations and inspiration for your college goals. Your perseverance, which has gotten you this far and will carry you through the Jan. 1 deadlines and any periods of senioritis next semester. Applying to college can be an overwhelming process, but the finish line is right around the corner!
